Bookstore Elopement Package

“… and, finally, the two star crossed lovers discovered that they didn’t need big crowds, pomp and circumstance to shout to the whole world that they are forever. They just needed a little spot in the Romance Section of a beautiful bookstore.”

Something I just wrote for this page

Bookstore Love is an Elopement Package for Book Lovers.

An intimate, personal and private ceremony so the two of you start the next chapter of your story without the big fuss of a traditional wedding – all inside Paper Bird, a quirky bookshop located at the heart of Fremantle WA.

In one single package you get your legal wedding and photography sorted. If you like film adaptations of your favourite stories, you can also add amazing videography done in analogue Super 8.

You must have questions

What’s your booking process?
Once you’re happy to go ahead, we ask for a $500 non-refundable booking fee to secure the date. The remaining balance will be due before the elopement.

Who do I pay?
To make things easy for you, there will be one payment (split into one $500 non-refundable booking fee, the rest is to be paid up until a month before the proposed wedding date).

When do we need to sign the paperwork?
Your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) must be completed with the celebrant at least one month prior to the ceremony day.

Can we bring some friends or family?
To make sure you’ve got a comfortable amount of space in the venue, you can bring up to 6 guests with you.

What if we don’t want to invite guests?
No problem! You will need two legal witnesses, but Kat (the photographer) and the book store attendant can do this for you!

Are you LGBTQIA+ friendly?
Of course we do! All inclusive here. Every love story will be told!

Can we do it any day or time?
Paperbird is open Monday to Sunday 9am – 5pm so we can only offer ceremonies at 5pm. This is to ensure you get the whole book store to yourself. But we will recommend that you get your portraits taken before the ceremony and then come to the store a little early to have a browse and get comfortable in the space. Once the ceremony is over and we’ve taken a few snaps, we’d recommend going for a walk nearby and hitting up some of Fremantle’s best restaurants and bars to celebrate!

Do we have to wear a white dress? A suit?
No way! Wear whatever you like. We love couples breaking the rules.

Can you arrange other things for the day?
We can recommend an amazing local Florist – The Freo Florist – and we can arrange collection! If you would like drinks or food we recommend heading to a nearby bar or restaurant afterwards! If there’s anything else you need hit us up for recommendations.

Can we bring champagne and cake?
Unfortunately we can’t consume food or drink in the book store so we recommend heading to a nearby bar or restaurant to celebrate.

Can you arrange livestreaming?
Whilst this isn’t part of the package, I know some great Perth livestreaming videographers who do an amazing and professional job. Hit me up for their details!

Do we need to have a rehearsal?
No, you don’t. Elopements are usually pretty relaxed, so a rehearsal isn’t necessary.

How soon do we get our photos
You will receive a few sneak peek photos within a few days so you can share your elopement with family and friends. The gallery (and your Super 8 digitised video, if you choose this) will be available within eight weeks.
